Terms of Service

⚠️ IMPORTANT: NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE
ProjectFi is an estimation and planning tool — not a financial adviser.
The projections, numbers, and retirement date estimates produced by ProjectFi are based entirely on figures you enter yourself. They are illustrations only. They do not constitute financial advice within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) or any other applicable law.
You must not rely on ProjectFi's projections when making financial decisions. Before making any significant financial decision — including decisions about superannuation, investments, or retirement — please consult a licensed financial adviser registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
ProjectFi takes no responsibility for financial decisions made based on its projections.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using ProjectFi (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and ProjectFi (trading name; business located in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia). By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
2. Not Financial Advice
We want to be absolutely clear about this, so we're saying it again at the top:
ProjectFi is a planning and estimation tool. It is not a financial adviser, and nothing it produces constitutes financial advice.
Specifically:
- Projections are estimates only, based on the figures you enter. They make simplifying assumptions and do not account for the full complexity of your financial situation.
- ProjectFi does not know your tax position, risk profile, investment strategy, insurance needs, estate planning goals, or any other factors relevant to financial advice.
- Projected retirement dates and financial outcomes may be materially wrong. Markets change. Circumstances change. Life happens.
- For personal financial advice, consult a licensed financial adviser registered with ASIC. You can find one at moneysmart.gov.au.
Using ProjectFi does not create any adviser–client relationship between you and ProjectFi.
3. Description of Service
ProjectFi is an online tool that helps you explore financial independence and early retirement planning ("FIRE planning").
What ProjectFi does:
- Lets you enter estimated income, expenses, savings, superannuation, and other financial figures
- Generates projected retirement timelines based on those inputs
- Helps you model different scenarios (e.g. "what if I save more?" or "what if I retire earlier?")
- Stores your inputs so you can revisit and update your plan over time
What ProjectFi does not do:
- Connect to your bank, superannuation fund, or any financial institution
- Provide personalised financial, tax, or investment advice
- Guarantee any financial outcome
- Account for changes in legislation, tax rates, market performance, inflation, or personal circumstances
- Replace the services of a licensed financial adviser, accountant, or other financial professional
We may update, improve, or discontinue features of the Service from time to time. We'll do our best to give you reasonable notice of significant changes.
4. Account Terms
To use ProjectFi, you'll need to create an account. By doing so, you agree that:
- One person per account. Your account is for your personal use only. You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of other people without their explicit consent.
- Accurate information. You'll provide accurate, current information when you sign up and keep it up to date. (Your financial estimates can be whatever approximations you like — that's what the tool is for — but your name and email should be real.)
- Credential security. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your password. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately at support@projectfi.com.au.
- Your responsibility for account activity. You're responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
5. Free and Pro Plans
ProjectFi offers two tiers of service:
Free Plan
The free plan gives you access to core planning features with certain limitations (such as a cap on the number of saved scenarios). It's a great way to explore the tool before committing.
Pro Plan
The Pro plan (coming soon) offers expanded features, including additional scenarios, advanced modelling, and priority support. The Pro plan is available via a paid monthly or annual subscription, processed through Stripe.
By subscribing to a Pro plan, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and authorise recurring billing at the rate shown at checkout. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
Pricing may change from time to time. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any price increase affects your existing subscription.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use ProjectFi only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable Australian or international laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, its servers, or any connected systems
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from ProjectFi using automated tools
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of ProjectFi
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
- Upload or transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating accounts.
7. Intellectual Property
ProjectFi's IP: The Service, including its design, code, features, branding, and content, is owned by ProjectFi and protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use ProjectFi's name, logo, or other branding without our prior written consent.
Your data: You own the data you enter into ProjectFi. We don't claim ownership of your financial estimates or planning inputs. By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store and process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
Feedback: If you provide us with feedback or suggestions about the Service, we may use that feedback to improve ProjectFi without any obligation to you. We appreciate it.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Australian law:
- ProjectFi is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that projections will be accurate or reliable.
- ProjectFi will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including (without limitation) losses arising from reliance on financial projections.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to ProjectFi in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $100 AUD if you are on the free plan).
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) that cannot be excluded by contract, including statutory guarantees that apply to certain services.
9. Termination
Your right to leave
You can stop using ProjectFi and delete your account at any time via the Settings page. Deleting your account will remove your personal data and financial estimates from our systems.
Our right to suspend or terminate
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to ProjectFi if:
- You breach these Terms of Service
- We have reason to believe your account is being used for unlawful purposes
- Continued operation of your account poses a security risk
Where possible, we will give you notice before suspending your account and an opportunity to remedy the breach. In cases of serious or ongoing violations, we may act without prior notice.
If your account is terminated by us for cause, you will not be entitled to a refund of any prepaid subscription fees.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. You agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Australian Capital Territory for the resolution of any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable law. When we make changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
For significant changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you don't agree with the updated Terms, you can delete your account before the changes take effect.
